As the Washington Middle School celebrates 100 years, alumni are being invited back to the former high school for a celebratory basketball game.

The event was originally scheduled for March 24th, but will be held tonight after a snowstorm caused it to be postponed. Organizer Angie Shrader said it was through researching basketball history in Washington that it was discovered there was a century-old time capsule hidden at the school. The time capsule was opened and the copper box held coins from 1918, newspapers from the day, and handbooks from the school.

The Century of Tradition Celebration will include alumni basketball games, and former players, coaches, and cheerleaders are invited to attend. Admission is a freewill donation and it begins at 5 p.m. today.
