In the 44th Annual Washington Girls Relays at Case Field, the Washington Demons had a impressive showing finishing third out of 15 teams with 52 points. The Benton Bobcats won the meet with a total score of 78 points.


The Demons had one championship, and it was on the last event of the night the 4×400 relay, with a team of Leah Marek, Jenah Greiner, Isabel Bailey, and Ashley Telleen. Telleen took the baton on the final leg with the Demons in second place about 20 meters behind North Cedar’s Grace Proesch. Telleen overtook Proesch on the back straightaway and then held her off at the end to win by .59 seconds, with the time of 4:18.35.

Other top finishers for the Demons were runners-up in the 4×100 weight person relay, with the team of Samantha Miller, Madison Fishback, Emma Herr and Kira Ropp. Ashley Telleen finished third in the 400 hurdles. In the 200-meter run the Demons picked up a third with Leah Marek and a fourth with Isabel Bailey. Anderson finished third in the 100-meter run. The 4×200-meter relay team of Marek, Telleen, Jenah Greiner, and Anderson took third place. The 4×800-meter run finished third with a team of Brook Stout, Molly Sparks, Brynn Beenblossom, and Claire Horak.

The Demons next meet is in Burlington on Monday at 4:30.
