The Washington Demons were busy on the blue oval in Des Moines Friday at the Drake Relays. The Washington girls 4×100 team competed, taking 23rd place in the field of 80 squads.

The team of Leah Marek, Isabel Bailey, Jenah Greiner and Hannah Anderson finished in 50.80 seconds. Dubuque Wahlert had the fastest prelim time in the event in 49.10 seconds.

Anderson also competed in the long jump, taking fourth with a leap of 17’10.25”. Darby Thomas of Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln won the event flying 18’8.5”.

The Washington boys sent the 4×100 team of Cade Hennigan, Tanner Murphy, Sawyer Whisler and Spencer Sotelo to Des Moines. They finished 56th in the 80 team field with a time of 45.26 seconds. Cedar Rapids Jefferson turned in the fastest prelim time at 42.02 seconds.
