Vendor fee rates for RAGBRAI were approved by the Kalona City Council at their recent meeting.

City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh presented a vendor application to the council which has a $300 fee for profit organizations and a $200 fee for non-profit organizations for a 15’x15’ booth space in city limits. Schlabaugh says anyone wanting a larger space would be addressed on a case-by-case basis. The city is looking to have around 30 vendors, and booth spaces will be given first come, first served. The application asks what items the vendors will sell, including prices for those with and without a RAGBRAI rider wristband. Schlabaugh explains how downtown businesses will be affected, “So typically how it works, and I think we need to follow this model, is any business that does something that they don’t normally do, so for example, if a business had an outdoor seating area and they want to use that outdoor seating area and they’re normally open on Friday there’s no charge. If they go outside that footprint that they normally do there is a fee.”

Vendors will be discussed further at a committee meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce.
