As sunny spring weather is expected this weekend, the 47th annual Kalona Quilt Show and Sale hopes for a good turn-out at the Kalona Historical Village.

Over 300 new and antique handmade quilts will be on display and for sale, with some antique quilts dating back to the 1860’s. The show is organized by Katie Karnes and Brenda Herington of Woodin Wheel Antiques and Kalona Antique Company. Karnes encourages newcomers and returning visitors to attend the show, “It’s just fun to come and see all the interesting color selections, patterns and just see all the quilts. It’s kind of works of the heart where, you know everybody does different things so you get all different kinds in, so it’s not just the same quilt done different times.”

The Kalona Quilt Show and Sale will be open 5-8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Kalona Historical Village. Cost is $6 for those 13 and older, but attendees will be given a wristband for reentry anytime during the weekend.
