After placing first in class 2A at the district jazz festival, the Mid-Prairie High School Jazz Band will compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships this Thursday in Ames.

Mid-Prairie is one of 15 bands competing in their class at 10 a.m. on the Iowa State University campus. The Winfield-Mt. Union High School Jazz Band will compete in the class 1A competition at 1:45 p.m. The afternoon awards ceremony will take place in Stephens Auditorium at 5:15 p.m. The top two performing bands from each class will then perform at the Championships Concert at 7 p.m. Admission to the daytime competition is $10, and the Championships Concert is free.
