Washington County will soon have a new excavator in the engineer’s department.

At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, it was approved to purchase a new CAT excavator. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius said their current machine has over 9,000 hours on it and has some issues, “It’s wore out, we are going to get a trade value of $35,000 for it. And we need to do about $15- to $20,000 in repairs to it.” The new excavator costs $196,810. Since the county is trading in their 2003 excavator the net cost is $161,810. The new machine will be in Washington County in about a month.
