Would you like to get your kids outdoors this summer?

Registration has begun for the Washington County Conservation Board’s summer day camps. There are different sessions for ages from four-years-old to seventh graders, and are designed around the natural world at Marr Park. Naturalist Pam Holz encourages kids to attend the camps because it gets them out in nature, “Being connected to nature has proven to increase attention, has been proven to improve your social skills, increase your intelligence, increase your creativity. It’s supposed to be physically, mentally, and emotionally more healthy.”

The camps run from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday with the preschool camp sessions lasting three days each. Activities will include hikes, games, crafts, fishing, and exploration. Cost is $20 for the preschool camp and $30 for the grade school camps. For more information on the camps or to register call Holz at 319-657-2400 or email wccbnaturalist@gmail.com.
