According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, topsoil moisture in southeast Iowa is rated at 24% surplus, 48% adequate, 21% short, and seven percent very short. Subsoil moisture in the area is rated at two percent surplus, 49% adequate, 32% short, and 17% very short.
