Even though the temperatures may feel more like winter, this week is spring cleaning in Washington.

Residents can place their unwanted items out at the curb and it will be picked up on their usual trash day. All loose items should be placed in a cardboard box and recyclable materials like glass, paper, plastic, metal and cardboard should be in separate piles. Special stickers for larger items can be purchased at City Hall. A $20 sticker is required for appliances like refrigerators, air conditioners, and microwaves. A $6 sticker is needed for furniture like sofas, mattresses, desks, and other bulky items. Each household has a 100-pound limit for carpet and construction materials. Items that will not be collected include paint, batteries, and tires. For all of the regulations click here.
