Six Area teams competed in the Ekstrand Relays at Waco High School in Wayland on Thursday.

The Washington Demons were the top area team finishing third overall out of 15 teams, with 116 points. Fairfield won the event with a score of 142. The Demons had two championships on the night with Lincoln Kleese winning the 110 hurdles in the time 18.25 seconds. Brennan Horak winning the 3200 in the time of 10:45.43. Other top scores for the Demons were a second place for Ryan Reighard in the 100. Brennan Horak added a second in the 1600. Evan Horak took second in the 3200 and third in the 1600. Cade Pouren finished second in the long jump. Ben Schiefer grabbed a third place in the 400 hurdles. Wyatt Stout finished third in the high jump. The team of Pouren, Luke Turner, Trevor Quigley, and Stout took third in the 4×100. The team of Pouren, Turner, Quigley, and Reighard grabbed third in the 4×200.

The Lone Tree Lions were the champions in their class but finished fourth overall in points with a score of 115. The Lions had four championships on the night. Brock Smith won the 800 in a time of 2:08.57. Brady Dauber leaped his way to a championship in the long jump with a length of 19-03.50. Casey Shalla won the shot put with a throw of 43-04.25. The team of Brady Dauber, Harmon Miller, Keegan Edwards, and Brock Smith won the 4×800 with the time of 8:31.92. The Lions other top finishers were Brock Smith second in the 400. Ty Griffin grabbed a second place in the 400 hurdles. The team of Dauber, Miller, Edwards, Smith took second in the 4×400. Harmon Miller finished third in the 800. Cale Yoder finished third in the shot put.

The Waco Warriors finished seventh overall with a score of 82 points. The Warriors had three championships on the night with Elijah McGohan winning the 400 meters with a time of 53.05 seconds. Colton Horak took two individual event titles, the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.90 seconds, and the 400 hurdles with the time of 59.08 seconds. Other top finishers for the Warriors were Calvin Battle Jr. taking second in the 100, and third in the 200. The 4×100 relay teams of Jaren Collins, Battle, McGohan, and Colton Horak finished second. Drew Kissell finishing third in the 100. The 4×400 relay team of Nick Coble, John Skriver, Will Edeker, and Collins finished third.

The Winfield Mt. Union Wolves finished eighth with 76 points. The Wolves had three championships on the night. Brandon Snowden won two individual events, the 100 in the time of 11.79 seconds, and the 200 in the time of 23.66 seconds. The team of Kolten Buster, Juanito Piper, Christian Gerot, and Mitchell Niebuhr won in the 4×100 with a time of 45.91 seconds. Brody Barton finished second in the 1600 and the 3200. Dane Sweezer finished third in the 110 hurdles. Kolton Buster finished third in the high jump. BJ Rodgers took third in the long jump.

The Highland Huskies finished 11th with a score of 49. The Huskies had one champion on the night. Zack Lasek won the discuss with a throw of 131-.01. Lasek finished second in the shot put. The team of Bryce Waters, Mason McFarland, Jarrett Brown, and Kadin Jepson took third in the 4×200. The team of Waters, McFarland, Brown, and Mason Manley grabbed a third place in the sprint medley. Waters, McFarland, Manley, and Bryan Redlinger took third in the distance medley relay.

Iowa Mennonite finished 14th with a score of 27 points. Iowa Mennonite had two championships on the night. Levi Geyer won the 1600 with a time of 4:51.31, and the 3200 in the time of 10:34.91. other top finishers were the team of Louis Etienne, Aaron Hershberger, Levi Geyer, and Gibson Lowenberg.

On the girl’s side, Washington finished fourth overall out of 16 teams with the score of 111. Fairfield won the event with 128 points. Washington had two championships on the night. Ashley Telleen won the 400 in the time of 1:06.89, and in the 400 hurdles with the time of 1:11.87. Brooke Stout added a second in the 1500. The 4×200 team of Alexis Ide, Cloe Telleen, Kellie Dallmeyer, and Emma Herr took second. The 4×400 relay team of Molly Sparks, Brynn Beenblossom, Claire Horak, and Ashley Telleen finished second. The 4×800 team of Stout, Sparks, Beenblossom, and Allison Hippen grabbed second. The distance medley team of Cierra Miller, Olivia Marek, Sophia Kleese, and Stout finished second. Beenblossom finished third in the 400. Claire Horak finished third in the 800. Demeri Bell added a third in the high jump.

Highland Huskies finished sixth with the score of 79. The Huskies had one championship. Emily Yahnke won the long jump in 15-10. The Huskies other top finishers were, Taylor Sublette second in the 800. Bailey Harmston leaped to a second-place finish in the high jump. The 4×200 team of Murph Beinhart, Alyssa Clarke, Jenna Sands, and Aly Stokes finished second. Kristy Thomann finished third in the 100. The team of Fiona Mahler Zoe Mahler, Madison Thomann, and Taylor Sublette finished third in the 4×800.

The WACO Warriors finished ninth with a score of 66 points. The Warriors had two championships. The 4×200 team of Murphy Beinhart, Alyssa Clarke, Jenna Sands, and Aly Stokes won in the time of 1:59.53. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Molly McLaughlin, Grace Conwell, Laney Graber , and Kiana Miller won in the time 1:12.16. Other top finishers for the Warriors included, Conwell second in the 400 hurdles. Graber finished third in the 400. The team of Ashleigh Hallett, Miller, Graber, and Conwell grabbed a third place in the 4×100. Hallett, Graber, Miller, and Conwell added a third in the sprint medley.

The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves finished 10th with a score of 61. The Wolves had two championships. Cecelia Hemsworth won in the 800 with a time of 2:31.28. The team of Kyndal Townsley Mary Guillen, Jami Wilkerson, and Avery Maeder won in the 4×100 in the time of 54.47 seconds. Other top finishers for the Wolves were, Anna Hudson second-place in the shot put. Hemsworth finished third in the 1500. Isabella Mertens finished third in the 3000.

The Sigourney Savages finished 11th with 53 points. The Savages had one champion on the night. Sloan Magill won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.80 seconds. Other top finishers for the Savages are Megan Stuhr second in the discus. The 4×100 relay team of Leah Carter, Heidi Clarahan, Brooke Waechter, and Hannah Lucas took second. Carter third in the 100 hurdles. Magill third in the shot put. The team of Stuhr, Kaylee Weber, Lucas, Makenna Hammes finished third in the 4×200.

The Lone Tree Lions finished 12th on the night with 46 points. The Lions had one champion on the night it was the team of Sydney Alt, Macie Bopp, Natalie Patterson, and Maddie Jacque in the 4×800 relay. Emily Feldman finished second in the 100 hurdles and a fourth in the long jump. The team of Holley Johnson, Bopp, Patterson, and Chloe Jacque finished second in the 4×400. The team of Johnson, Zoie Simonsen, Chloe Jacque, and Feldman finished second in the shuttle hurdle relay.

The Iowa Mennonite girls finished 13th with a score of 42 points. Their best finisher was Suzanna Yoder second in three events, the 100, 200, and the 400. Yoder added a third place in the long jump, Rubye Ney finished fourth in the 400 hurdles.
