The Washington boys and girls track and field teams hosted the marquee event in southeast Iowa Thursday with the Demon Co-Ed Relays at Case Field.

The top area team finish came from the Mid-Prairie boys who were second overall with 133 points. Mount Pleasant won the boys side of the meet with 192 points.The Golden Hawks had five championship events on the night with Cary Schaefer winning the 400 in 52.65 seconds, Peyton Miller the 400m hurdles in 57.19 seconds, Floyd Evans the 1600 in 4:39.76, Kyle Miller the high jump by clearing six feet, and the 4×400 team of Schaefer, Miller, Quinn Schmidt and Grant Boyse in 3:34.46. Other top finishes for the Golden Hawks included a runner up for Evans in the 3200, second place for Boyse in the 400,  the sprint medley team of Josh Slaubaugh, Adain Rath, Schmidt and Schaefer was second, second for the 4×800 team of Zach Pettit, Marshal Teets, Schmidt and Miller, second for the distance medley team of Slaubaugh, Rath, Miles Burrows and Brad Tornow, Pettit second in the 800, Teets third in the 1600, third for the shuttle hurdle team of Burrows, Clarke Latcham, Jack Baker and Luke Albright, Miller fourth in the long jump, Burrows fifth in the 400 hurdles and a fifth for the 4×200 team of Slaubaugh, Rath, Caleb Thomas and Miller.

The Washington Demon boys were third with 79.5 points. Top finishers for the Demon boys included a runner up for the shuttle hurdle team of Mario Tapia, Cade Hennigan, Spencer Sotelo and Lincoln Kleese, second place for the 4×200 team of Jameson Bell, Luke Turner, Trevor Quigley and Ryan Reighard, second place for the 4×100 team of Mario Tapia, Tanner Murphy, Sawyer Whisler, Spencer Sotelo and a runner-up for Ethan Hunt in the 400 hurdles. Whisler was third in the 100m, Ben Schiefer was third in the high jump, Cade Pohren fourth in the 100, Mark Engelken fourth in the discus, Brennan Horak fifth in the 3200, Cade Hennigan fifth in the 110 hurdles, Brennan Horak fifth in the 1600 and Spencer Sotelo fifth in the long jump.

The Washington Demon girls were fourth in the girls standings with 85 points. Iowa City City High won the girls meet with 130 points. The Demons had a big night from Hannah Anderson who was a triple champion for Washington, taking the 100m dash in 13.02 seconds, the 200 in 27.31 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 17’4″. Other top finishes for Washington included a runner up for the 4×100 team of Leah Marek, Jenah Greiner, Isabel Bailey, and Hannah Anderson, third for Ashley Telleen in the 400 hurdles, third for the 4×200 team of Leah Marek, Isabel Bailey, Jenah Greiner and Ashley Telleen, third for the 4×400 team of Leah Marek, Jenah Greiner, Claire Horak and Ashley Telleen, fourth for Jenah Greiner in the long jump, fourth for the shuttle hurdle team of Demeri Bell, Michaela Hoffman, Kellie Dallmeyer and Ashley Telleen, and fifth for the 4×800 team of Alivia Emry, Molly Sparks, Brooke Stout and Claire Horak.

The Winfield-Mt. Union boys finished in sixth place with 51.5 points. The Wolves had a pair of championships from Brandon Snowden winning the 100 in 11.55 seconds and the 200 in 23.77 seconds. Other top finishes for the Wolves included a third place for Talon Newton in the high jump, fourth for the 4×200 team of Kolten Buster, Juanito Piper, Dawson Bergthold and Mitchell Niebuhr, fifth for Snowden in the 400 and fifth for the 4×100 team of Kolten Buster, Juanito Piper, BJ Rodgers and Snowden.

The WACO boys were seventh with 43 points. Top finish for the Warriors came from Colton Horak, second in the 200m. Other top finishes for WACO included, Horak third in the 110 hurdles, Elijah McGohan third in the 400, the 4×100 team of Jalen Collins, Elijah McGohan, Drew Kissell and Colton Horak fourth, McGohan fifth in the 200 and the sprint medley team of Jalen Collins, Drew Kissell, Colton Horak and Elijah McGohan fifth.

The Columbus boys were ninth with 27 points. Top finishes for the Wildcats included Abel Mena third in the 400 hurdles and Tommy Pretz third in the long jump.

The Highland boys were 10th with 16 points. Top finish came from Zach Lasek fourth in the shot put.

The WACO girls were 12th with 15 points. Top finishes came from the shuttle hurdle team of Molly McLaughlin, Aubri Garnsey, Grace Conwell and Laney Graber taking third and McLaughlin fifth in the 100m hurdles.

The Highland girls were 13th with 10 points. The 4×100 team of Sarah Schneider, Emily Yahnke, Kristy Thomann and Aly Stokes were fourth, the 4×200 team of Sarah Schneider Emily Yahnke, Kristy Thoman and Aly Stokes were fifth.

The Columbus girls were 14th with six points. Janessa Carpenter had the top finish for the Wildcats, taking fifth in the 400m.
