The street sweeper in Washington has recently undergone repairs to the tune of $22,409.03.

The city council asked about the repairs after a smaller bill was anticipated. City Administrator Brent Hinson said the maintenance on the machine has been “ridiculous” and it had been advertised as a like-new demo model that resulted in a $40,000 price reduction at the time to about $125,000. Mayor Jaron Rosien said efforts were made at the time to make a good purchase, “However, it has been not a good purchase, extremely expensive to maintain. Also, extremely expensive to purchase, you might recall we had a budget proposal to either lease or purchase a new street sweeper that was not affordable at this time. But still it is incredibly expensive to repair and that’s something we’ll have to look at very closely, I think, next budget, next cycle.” The board approved the $22,000 bill for repairs.
