Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC, in Washington has announced a strategic partnership with Lake Erie Biofuels, LLC, HERO BX, to manufacture and market biodiesel at the local facility.

HERO BX is based in Erie, Pennsylvania and has expanded from its flagship plant to Alabama and New Hampshire, and is now adding Iowa to the list. Chris Peterson, President of HERO BX, states, “We have a simple recipe that has earned HERO BX a stellar reputation in the biodiesel industry. That recipe is driven from our core values of integrity, quality and safety, and will remain in place in Iowa.” IRE’s Chief Operating Officer Ron Lutovsky released a statement saying, “Iowa Renewable Energy is thrilled to be partnering with HERO BX and joining their growing national network of biodiesel supply and distribution. HERO’s core values, along with their operations and management team are a great fit with our team at IRE. We will be working closely together to make both companies’ operations more efficient and dynamic.” Iowa Renewable Energy was founded in 2005, and operates a 30-million gallon biodiesel refinery.
