The Winfield-Mount Union School District will continue receiving Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, or PPEL, funding after Tuesday’s special election.

Ninety-six votes were cast in favor of a 10-year levy to tax $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed property value. This is an extension of the same levy that is currently in place. Twenty-four votes were cast against the levy. Of the 1,136 registered voters in the Winfield-Mount Union School District, 120 cast ballots, or 10.6%. The vote passed with 80% in favor, and the levy will begin the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021. School districts can use PPEL funding for purposes such as the purchase and improvement of grounds, constructing school houses or buildings, and purchase of technology and equipment.
