The Winfield-Mt. Union boys and girls golf teams are scheduled to be on the course for the first time this season tonight when they host the Mediapolis Bulldogs and Bullettes in a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual.

The WMU boys are coming off of a big season that saw them qualify for the Class 1A state tournament as a team and finish third as Kaleb Hagge captured his second individual state championship. The Wolves bring back every single player from last year’s team, led by Kaleb Hagge and his 37 average per nine holes, along with Nolan Ross, Kash Rossiter, Graham Hagge, Jarod Kadel, Noah Freeman and Nathan Crow.

The Bulldogs finished last season with a 242 average per nine holes. Mediapolis returns their top scorer in Noah Samuel with his 52 average per nine holes.

The Winfield-Mt. Union girls had a pair of golfers qualify for the state meet a season ago with Sophie Kongable finishing ninth and Lexee Hartsock 36th. The Wolves will try to replace Kongable and Haley Rodgers who moved on through graduation but do return Hartsock and her 52 average per nine holes, along with Lauren Jamison, Lauren Hagge and Sabrina Moody.

The Bullettes finished last season with a 235 average per nine holes. They return five of their top six golfers from last season led by Ruthie Jahn and her 51 average per nine holes. The two teams tee off at 4p.m. in Winfield.
