The recipients of the KCII Business and Broadcasting Scholarships will soon be announced.

The two students each receiving $500 will be announced on air at 8 a.m. Friday, May 18th. Each year KCII awards two scholarships to graduating area high school seniors who will be pursuing a business or broadcasting degree at a two-year community college or a four-year university.

KCII General Manager Joe Nichols explains what he looks for when reviewing the applications, “It’s fun to see and look through all the different applications that come through. There’s a lot of great kids in this area from all these different schools, and it’s always fun to see all the different things they’re involved with it. It reminds me that there’s more than just school, right? And that’s something that I look for, too, is it’s not always this was the kid that had the highest ACT scores or SATs or whatever. I look for people that are involved with their communities, involved with the schools, and that shows a lot of character, and that’s what I look for when I’m going through this process.”

All application forms must be turned in to KCII by the end of the day today, May 11th. Last year’s recipients were Michael Dillon of Washington High School and Sarah Vorwerk of Mediapolis High School.
