The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Golf Tournaments get underway on Tuesday.

The Washington Demons qualified as a team with their regional championship at Emeis Park in Davenport last week. Washington shot 341 as a team to blast the rest of the field by 55 shots. The Demons were led by individual regional champion Sarah Nacos with her 77. For the year Washington has a team scoring average of 326 per 18 holes, best in the state regardless of class. The Demons are led by Sarah Nacos and her 74 average, third best in the state regardless of class. Other scoring averages for Washington include Anna Nacos at 81, Kiki Guo 82, Megan Strabala 89, Josie Tanner 91, and Allison Vogel 98. The class 3A tournament is played at Coldwater Links in Ames.

In class 2A, Mid-Prairie’s Paige Slabaugh qualified for state as an individual. Slabaugh shot a round of 84 in Oskaloosa at last week’s regional final. On the season Slabaugh has an 88 average per 18-holes. She will play at Lake Panorama in Panora.

In class 1A, Columbus’ Aubrey Duncan and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Lexee Hartsock will be on the course. Duncan qualified for state with her round of 87 at the regional final in Sigourney. On the season, she has an 18 hole average of 90. Lexee Hartsock fired an 89 in Sigourney to qualify as an individual. Her 18-hole average is also at 90 for the season. Duncan and Hartsock will tee up at the American Legion Course in Marshalltown.
