The Washington Demon boys and girls track teams have the honor of hosting the 2018 Southeast Conference track and field championships at Case Field Thursday.

The Demon boys enter action off of a runner-up showing at Monday’s Brookhart Relays at Fairfield. Washington had four championships on the evening with Brennan Horak winning the 1600, the Demon 4×100 team of Mario Tapia, Tanner Murphy, Spencer Sotelo and Sawyer Whisler taking the title, the 4×200 team of Cade Pouren, Murphy Whisler and Ryan Reighard winning gold with the sprint medley team of Cade Hennigan, Murphy, Whisler and Ethan Hunt winning the title.

The Washington girls were third as a team at the Brookhart Relays on Monday. The Demons had six championship events on the night with Hannah Anderson winning the 100 and 200, Jenah Greiner the long jump, the 4×100 team of Leah Marek, Isabel Bailey, Anderson and Greiner winning the title, the 4×200 team of Marek, Bailey, Ashley Telleen and Greiner winning gold and the 4×400 team of Marek, Telleen, Bailey and Anderson beating the competition.

Joining Washington at the event will be Keokuk, Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant and Faifield. Due to the possibility of inclimate weather later in the evening, the start time for the event has been moved up to 2:30 Thursday at Case Field in Washington.
