The Washington Demon boys golf team looks to advance to the state tournament Thursday when they travel to Oskaloosa for their class 3A district meet.

The Demons are on a roll late this season, taking home the Southeast Conference championship, and most recently, the sectional championship at Pella last week to advance. Washington shot a 318, led by Brady Knutson and Brock Sobaski with 78s. On the season the Demons have a 320 scoring average per 18-holes, 10th best in Iowa regardless of class. Washington is led on the year by Jacob Van Osdol and his 79 average per 18. Other scoring averages for the Demons include Brock Sobaski and Dalton Myers at 80, Brady Knutson 82, Caleb Tanner 96, and Mitchell Driscoll 97.

Joining the Demons Thursday at Oskaloosa are the Pella Dutch with their 323 average per 18-holes. Pella is led by Trey Wood and his 79 average.

Grinnell will also travel to Oskaloosa with their 329 scoring average led by Lucas Scherf and his 70 average.

The Demons rival Mount Pleasant will also be there. The Panthers have a 341 scoring average per 18-holes with Trace White holding the team lead at 81.

Oskaloosa will also compete on their home course. The Indians have a 331 scoring average paced by Spencer Tucker at 76.

Individual golfers from Burlington Notre Dame, Fairfield, Keokuk, Clear Creek-Amana and Solon will also play. Action continues all day at the Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa.
