The Washington Demon boys and girls track teams will try to make those state meet dreams come true when they travel to Mount Pleasant Thursday for their class 3A state qualifier.

The Demon boys and girls were both in action last at Case Field a week ago for the Southeast Conference Championship meet. The Washington boys and girls both had runner-up team finishes at conference.

The Washington boys had four event championships on the night with Ethan Hunt winning the 400, the sprint medley team of Cade Hennigan, Tanner Murphy, Sawyer Whisler and Hunt won the title and set a new meet record, the 4×200 team of Cade Pouren, Tanner Murphy, Whisler and Ryan Reighard won the title and the 4×100 team of Mario Tapia, Tanner Murphy, Spencer Sotelo and Whisler also won gold. The Washington girls had championships from Jenah Greiner in the long jump and the 4×400 team of Leah Marek, Jenah Greiner, Isabel Bailey and Ashley Telleen. Joining the Demons in Mount Pleasant tonight are Davenport Assumption, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City Liberty, Keokuk, West Burlington-Notre Dame and the Panthers. Action begins at 4p.m. at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.
