Eagles, Savages, Wildcats and Wolves in Regional Action at New London Monday

Four KCII area girls golf teams begin the playoff push Monday at New London in the first round of the class 1A regional tournament.

Columbus, Keota, Sigourney and Winfield-Mt. Union all will be on the course. The Eagles and Savages last competed at the South Iowa Cedar League Championship meet a week ago. Sigourney finished seventh in the conference with a 458 score, led by Sidney Striegel’s 99. On the season Sigourney has a 458 average per 18-holes, led by Striegel at 99. Other scoring averages for the Savages include Sidney Morse 115, Madison Schwenke 117, Sam Bird 127, and Savhannah White 135. Keota did not post a team score at the event, they were led by Aaliyah Heldman with a 115 and Frankie Johnson at 129.

Columbus and Winfield-Mt. Union both competed at the Superconference Championship meet where they tied with matching team scores of 411. Lexee Hartsock led WMU with a 93, Aubrey Duncan led Columbus with a 90 at the event. On the year the Wolves have a 400 team scoring average per 18-holes with Hartsock at 90 leading the way. She is followed by Sabrina Moody at 99, Lauren Jamison 102, Lauren Hagge 110, Abbie Cooley 126, and Makenna Mullin 136. This season Columbus has a 429 scoring average per 18-holes. The Wildcats are led by Duncan and her 93 average. Other scoring averages for the Wildcats include Kayla Beenen 110, Jobie Lekwa 113, Gracie Morrison 114 and Katie Martinez 154.

New London enters play with the best scoring average. The defending Superconference champs average a 349 per 18-holes, led by Casey Noble and her 77 average. Other teams at the New London regional include Danville, English Valleys and Holy Trinity Catholic.
