Voters will cast ballots in primary races on June 5th, but they may also vote ahead of election day.

Voters can cast their absentee ballots in person at the auditor’s office through June 4th during regular business hours. The auditor’s office will also be open Saturday, June 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for early voting. Residents will have to select a Republican, Democratic, or Libertarian ballot. Iowa law allows eligible people to vote and cast a ballot on election day, but they must provide proof of identity and residency at their polling place. Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer recommends registering ahead of election day at the auditor’s office to avoid delays by filling out registration paperwork at polling places.
