The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams were both champions at Thursday’s state qualifier meet at Eddyville-Blakesburg High School.

The Golden Hawk boys won the meet with 121 points. Pekin was second with 109.50 points. The top two finishers in each event automatically qualified for the state meet in Des Moines. The Golden Hawks won three championships on the night with Floyd Evans taking the 1600 in 4:35.57 and the 3200 in 10:26.73. Peyton Miller won the 400 hurdles in 55.97 seconds. Zach Pettit was runner-up in the mile, Kyle Miller was second in the high jump, the 4×400 team of Grant Boyse, Cary Schaefer, Quinn Schmidt and Peyton Miller was second, the 4×800 team of Zach Pettit, Marshall Teets, Quinn Schmidt and Peyton Miller was second, the Golden Hawk sprint medley team of Grant Boyse, Terrhyn Jacoby, Aidan Rath and Cary Schaefer took second, and the distance medley team of Elmir Ganibegovic, Terrhyn Jacoby, Grant Boyse and Floyd Evans was second. Cary Schaefer took third in the 800 and the 4×100 team of Grant Boyse, Terrhyn Jacoby, Aidan Rath and Elmir Ganibegovic was third.

The Columbus boys were ninth with 29 points. Top finish for the Wildcats came from Tommy Pretz in the long jump placing third.

The Mid-Prairie girls also captured the team title. The Golden Hawks had six championship events on the night. Anna Hostetler won triple gold, taking the 800 in 2:24.11, the 1500 in 4:51.76 and the 3000 in 11:15.07. Abbagail Evans was the winner in the 400 in 1:03.02. The Mid-Prairie 4×800 team of Kate Cavanagh, Kessa Jones, Moriah Brase and Ana Fleming won in a time of 10:23.55 and the distance medley of Maddie Edgington, Amber Swart and Anna and Marie Hostetler was a winner in 4:17.31. The Golden Hawk sprint medley of Maddie Edgington, Cassidy Rourke, Amber Swart and Abbagail Evans was third.
