The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls softball team grabbed their first win of the season Tuesday, taking down the North Cedar Knights 9-5 in Kalona.

North Cedar got on the board first with a single tally in the top of the third. Mid-Prairie answered with three in the fourth and a pair in the fifth to go up 5-1. The Knights wouldn’t go away, tying the game with a four spot in the top of the sixth but Mid-Prairie again answered the push from the Knights with four runs in their half of the sixth to take back control and the win. Jaselyn Robertson went three for three at the plate for the Hawks with a run scored and an RBI. Rylee Vercande and Abbi Patterson each drove in two. In the circle Cassidy Rourke went the distance in the win, surrendering six hits, five runs, walking five and striking out six. Mid-Prairie is now 1-3 on the year as they travel to Monticello Thursday.
