Last week Iowa’s farmers were able to make significant planting progress according to Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig.

Iowa’s farmers were able to plant 21% of the expected 13 million acres of corn and 25% of the nearly 10 million acres of soybeans. In southeast Iowa, 96% of corn is planted and 79% has emerged, while 80% of soybeans are planted and 45% have emerged. Both of those planting percentages are above the five-year average. Also, pasture conditions across the state have improved, with 56% in good to excellent condition.
