Washington County and each of its contiguous counties saw drops in the unemployment rate from March to April.

Washington County went from 2.7% to 2.2%. The biggest change was in Keokuk County, going from 3.5% with 170 people unemployed down to 2.7% with 140 people unemployed. The State of Iowa’s unemployment rate remained the same from March to April at 2.8% with approximately 47,000 people without work.
