In less than three weeks the Lone Tree Wellness Center will open for Lone Tree and surrounding residents.

Construction on the 21,000 square-foot facility began in July 2017 and is expected to be complete this Friday. The $3.4 million center includes a gymnasium, fitness center, indoor track, and meeting space. Residents from Lone Tree and surrounding communities can purchase daily, as well as monthly, gym passes. Cost is $25 for singles, $35 for couples, and $40 for families per month, and if purchased for a whole year members can get one month free. Lone Tree Superintendent Ken Crawford hopes this center will spark greater development in the community, and says it will bring commuters closer to home, “We have a lot of community members that drive to their job in Iowa City and they work out before and after and now they can come home and work out in town. Weekends they can work out in town and we think that makes the community just a little bit more close-knit, as well as it’s just a benefit for our community.”

The center was funded in part by a $200,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation and a $265,000 grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority Enhance Iowa program. The Lone Tree Wellness Center will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 18th at 5 p.m.
