Authorities arrested a man in Jefferson County after finding approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

According to the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a traffic stop in Batavia Wednesday at 10:55 a.m. After finding the methamphetamine while searching the vehicle, 24-year-old Jack David Hamilton of Ottumwa was arrested. He was charged with possession of more than five grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, and driving while barred – two felonies and one misdemeanor. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
