A high speed motorcycle chase involved three agencies Wednesday morning.
According to the Fairfield Police Department, at about 10:28 a.m. officers attempted to stop a black Harley Davidson motorcycle for a minor traffic offense. The driver, 55-year-old William Lee Brown of Ottumwa, refused to stop and a high speed chase ensued exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour. The chase went south of Fairfield on Highway 1 and then west on Highway 16. The driver continued west until he ran out of gas on Old Highway 98 in Eldon. Brown was arrested and charged with eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor. Other traffic charges may be pending. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol also assisted in the chase.
