A pair of KCII area baseball teams will face off Tuesday night in Wellman to get the summer season underway.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks host the Keota Eagles in a non-conference showdown on the diamond. The Golden Hawks are coming off of a 16-15 season a year ago with an appearance in the district championship round of the playoffs. As a team the Hawks hit .287, led by Jacob Leonard and his .375 average. On the hill, Mid-Prairie had a team ERA of 4.16, led by Brad Tornow with a 6-4 overall record and 2.61 ERA across 48 innings of work.

Keota was 10-11 a season ago. The Eagles hit .315 as a team, led by Jack Eakins with a .391 average at the plate. On the mound Keota had a team ERA of 8.08. Top pitcher for Keota was senior Jacob Wickenkamp with a 1-3 record and 3.50 ERA in 24 innings. The Eagles return workhorse Austin Waterhouse who threw 33 innings a year ago with a 2-4 record and 4.62 ERA. These two teams met to open the season a year ago with Mid-Prairie taking a 13-1 win. Action begins Tuesday at 7:30 at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman.
