Of 16 communities in the state that will be saving a total of $4.1 million in interest over the remaining life of their State Revolving Fund loans for water quality projects two can be found in Keokuk County.

The Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources announced that the City of Keota will receive $19,512.50 and the City of Sigourney will receive $30,787.50 in savings as a result of the interest rate being reduced from 3% to 1.75%. The State Revolving Fund is one of Iowa’s primary sources for financing projects designed to improve water quality. Two funds, one for drinking water and one for wastewater and pollution control, have provided low-cost financing to projects in 600 Iowa communities as well as to farmers, watershed groups, and other water quality projects.
