With a price tag of $1.7 million Washington County could purchase the Federation Bank Building in downtown Washington.

The conversation began earlier this month and continued at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting where each supervisor said they’ve received positive feedback from constituents so far. Jack Seward said he sees it as an opportunity to improve efficiency, security, privacy, and access to county departments. If the county were to purchase the property, then some of the offices that are currently in the courthouse would be moved to the bank building. The County already rents space in the upper levels of the building for Public Health. No formal action was taken at Tuesday’s meeting.

Supervisor Jack Seward announced he’ll be holding public meetings to discuss the topic at 6 p.m. in Wellman Thursday at DJ’s Casual Cafe and Monday at West Chester City Hall.
