Two Washington High School seniors will earn their Associate of Arts Degrees before being handed their high school diplomas later this month.

Brooke Stout and Austin Stalder have taken concurrent credit classes at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center and have accumulated enough credits to earn both degrees at the same time. Kirkwood Community College’s commencement is May 12th and Washington High School’s graduation ceremony is May 27th. Stalder shares he started by taking a couple of classes at the center his freshman year and then worked with staff to make sure he was on track to earn the degree. Stout encourages other students to try courses at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center, “Give it a shot even if it’s one class at first, one class is better than none, and you’ll never know unless you give it a try.”

Stout plans to study accounting, finance and business administration at the University of Iowa in the fall, and Stalder will major in veterinary medicine at Iowa State University.
