Roth Field in Wayland will be full of athletes on Thursday trying to qualify for the state track meet in Des Moines.

Among them are KCII area teams Highland, Iowa Mennonite, Keota, Lone Tree, Sigourney, Winfield-Mt. Union and the home-standing Warriors.

The Highland Huskies were last in action at the Superconference North championships at Louisa-Muscatine last week. The Highland boys were ninth at that meet led by Zack Lasek with a third place in the discus. The Highland girls were sixth and scored a conference title in the 4×200 with a team of Murphy Beinhart, Sarah Schneider, Kristy Thomann, and Aly Stokes.

Iowa Mennonite will also be in Wayland Thursday. IMS last was on the track at the Superconference championships at L-M. The IMS boys were eighth as a team, led by a pair of conference titles from Levi Geyer in the mile and two mile. The IMS girls were eighth and got two championships from Suzanna Yoder who won the 200 and 400.

Keota was last in action Monday at Montezuma. The Eagles were fifth and Turner Klein brought home their lone title winning the 1600. The Keota girls last competed at the South Iowa Cedar League Championships at Lynnville-Sully last week. The Eagles were led by Jenna Jaeger taking 14th in the 400 and 800.

Lone Tree last competed at the Superconference North Championship meet. The Lion boys were fifth with Brady Dauber taking the long jump title. The Lone Tree girls were ninth at Louisa-Muscatine, led by Holley Johnson second in the 100 hurdles and second for the 4×800 team of Sydney Alt, Macie Bopp Natalie Patterson and Heather Geiger.

The Sigourney Savages last ran at the SICL Championships at Lynnville-Sully. The Sigourney boys were fifth with three conference titles including Tommy Stout in the mile, Payton Schauf the discus, and the distance medley team of Carson Crawford, Kyle Weber, Tristan Bell and Stout taking gold. The Sigourney girls were third and had four conference titles. Autum Barthelman took the 100 and 100 hurdles, the Sigourney shuttle hurdle team of Autum and Summer Barthelman, Leah Carter and Sloane Magill was a winner and the 4×100 team of Autum and Summer Barthelman, Heidi Clarahan and Brooke Waechter won gold.

The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves last competed at the Superconference North Championship meet last week. The WMU boys took seventh and had a conference title from the 4×100 team of Kolten Buster, Juanito Piper, BJ Rodgers and Brandon Snowden. The Lady Wolves had the top area finish at the Superconference meet, taking fifth and saw Cecilia Hemsworth take the 800 title.

The WACO Warriors ran at New London last week at the Superconference South Division Championship meet. The Warrior boys were sixth and won two tiles, Elijah McGohan the 400 and Colton Horak the 400 hurdles. The WACO girls were sixth and had runner-up finishes from Kiana Miller in the 100 hurdles, Grace Conwell in the 400 hurdles, the shuttle hurdle team of Miller, Conwell, Laney Graber and Molly McLaughlin and the distance medley team of Clara Schmitz, Ashleigh Hallett, Morgan Graber and Mariah Boone.

Joining these area teams tonight at WACO will be Calamus-Wheatland, Cardinal of Eldon, Danville, English Valleys, Lisbon, New London, Springville, and Tri-County. Action begins this afternoon at four and continues into the evening at Roth Field in Wayland.
