The Washington boys golf team checked a big goal off their list Thursday at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa.

The Demons qualified for the class 3A state golf tournament for the first time since 2012. Washington finished third at the district meet with a team score of 319. Oskaloosa won the team title with a 310, Grinnell was second at 314. The Demons were led by Dalton Meyers with a six-over-par 76. Lucas Scherf of Grinnell was the individual district champion with his one-under round of 69. Other scores for the Demons included Jacob Van Osdol at 80, Brady Knutson with an 81, Brock Sobaski 82, Mitchell Driscoll 92 and Caleb Tanner 95. The Demons will next compete in the class 3A state tournament at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, May 24th.
