A local 4-H Club is honoring first responders and emergency medical services personnel this week for National EMS Week.
The Green Acres 4-H Club prepared and delivered goodie bags to all eight EMS units in Washington County and the 117 volunteers involved across the county. The bags were put together with an assembly line of 4-H members and included candy with an explanation for each one, for example a mint patty “to help you keep your cool in every situation,” and a lifesaver “because you are one!” The observation of National EMS Week was first authorized in 1974 by then President Gerald Ford.
