The Winfield-Mt. Union girls golf team, Columbus’ Aubrey Duncan and Sigourney’s Sydney Striegel will all be on the course today in Sigourney in the regional finals to try to punch their ticket to the class 1A state golf meet.

Winfield-Mt. Union finished as regional runners-up in the first round at New London last week with a team score of 410. New London won the team title with a 358. The Wolves were led at the meet by Lexee Hartsock with a 93. The Wolves enter play ranked No. 2 in the state in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association, led by Hartsock at No. 4 in the state with her 98 average per 18 holes. Aubrey Duncan was the lone Wildcat to make it through the first round, firing an 88 to qualify as an individual from the New London regional. Striegel made it through for Sigourney with her round of 98.

Joining them today in Sigourney for the regional final are Iowa Valley, Calamus-Wheatland, Durant, New London, English Valleys, Central Decatur, Martensdale-St. Marys, Wayne and individual golfers from Holy Trinity Catholic, Moravia, Seymour and Melcher-Dallas. Action continues all day at the Sigourney golf course.
