Ballots were cast in primary races Tuesday and results are now in. The Republican nomination for State Representative District 84 was contested with four candidates and Joe Mitchell won it with 600 votes. Other candidates were Martin Amos with 288 votes, Trevor Lynn with 182 votes, and Sheila Matheney with 493 votes. There was one Democrat on the ticket and Jason Moats secured the nomination.

Washington County only had incumbent Republicans on the primary ballot and each secured the nomination, including Supervisor for District 3 Abe Miller with 157 votes, Supervisor for District 5 Richard Young with 126 votes, Treasurer Jeff Garrett with 621 votes, Recorder Jo Greiner with 607 votes, and County Attorney John Gish with 579 votes.

In November’s general election for State Senate District 39 incumbent Democrat Kevin Kinney will be challenged by Republican Heather Hora and in State Representative District 78 incumbent Republican Jarad Klein will be challenged by Kimberly Davis.
