For its 108th year, the Brighton Whoopee Days is feeling patriotic with the “Made in the USA” theme.

Whoopee Days will recognize veterans in several ways throughout the weekend, from an appearance of the Spirit of Iowa Tribute Bell that was unveiled at last year’s state fair, to a speaker presentation titled “Those Who Serve” at the Brighton City Park Saturday evening. The highlight of the weekend will be the unveiling of the Washington County Freedom Rock, and Brighton Chamber board member Nancy Adrian says they are excited for this event, “We will have the dedication of the Freedom Rock on the Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. And at that time we will also be laying a wreath in memory of Craig Rich who was a casualty of the Vietnam War who had grown up in Brighton.”

Brighton Whoopee Days begins Thursday with bingo, a magic show, introduction of the Grand Marshals, and will continue through Sunday. KCII will be broadcasting live from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the Big Red Radio Summer Town Tour.
