After splitting in their first meeting on the road, the Washington demon softball team will look to take some vengeance tonight at home against Fairfield.

Fairfield comes into tonight’s double-header looking to end a two-game skid, while the Demons are coming fresh off a mercy rule victory over Davis County this past Tuesday.  The Trojans come into town sitting atop the Southeast Conference with a 6-2 record in conference play, but Demons head coach Ben Obermann says he feels confident going into tonight.

“We still believe we have a chance to make a run at this thing, but we know we have to take down Fairfield to do that,” Obermann said.

“When we played them the first time, we let some opportunities get away offensively in the first game, but then battled back in that second game to win an extra inning affair, so I think it’s going to be a battle. “

“I think we’re evenly matched.  I think we have a little more experience than they do, but as long as we control what we can control, which is our own play, if we put a solid game together and play complete softball in all three phases, we feel very confident we can come away with a sweep,” Obermann said.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Washington.
