The Washington baseball and softball teams each saw action on their respective diamonds last night, going a combined 0-3 between them on the evening.

The Washington Demon baseball team took to the road last night, losing a thriller to Eddyville-Blakesburg by a score of four to three. The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, when E-B scored a run to go up one-nothing. The next half inning was huge for Washington, scoring three runs to go up 3-1. But the Demons couldn’t hang on, as they allowed E-B to score three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, taking the game away from Washington 4-3. The loss drops the Demons to 8-5 on the year.

The Demons will take to the diamond again Monday night, as they head up to Iowa City to take on IC Liberty in a double-header at the University of Iowa’s Duane Banks Field 5:30.  Coverage of that double-header will be live on KCII FM 106.1 and kciiradio.com starting at 5:00 with the Washington HyVee Pregame Show.

The Washington Demon softball team hit the road as well yesterday, squaring off against class 5A teams Linn Marr and North Scott as part of the North Scott Tournament. The Demons were held to just one run in each of those two games, losing by scores of 8-1 and 13-1 respectively. With the losses, the Demons are now 6-16 on the year.

The next test for the Demons comes in the form of just one game against Central City on the road Monday night. The next broadcasted contest will be Tuesday, when the Demons welcome Davis County to town for a single game. You’ll be able to catch that one of KCII FM 106.1 and kciiradio.com starting at 5 with the Washington HyVee Pregame show. First pitch is set for 5:30.
