Emergency personnel responded to an unresponsive child at the Columbus Community Swimming Pool Wednesday.

According to the Columbus Junction Police Department, at 4:09 p.m. a 911 call was made to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office of an unresponsive child at the swimming pool. Upon arrival responders were advised the five-year-old boy had been rescued from the pool. CPR was performed on the child, and from these efforts the child became responsive. The child was then transported by Air Care to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Louisa County Ambulance, Columbus Junction Fire Department, and Columbus Junction Police Department all responded to the incident.
