The Mid-Prairie baseball and softball teams are back on the field Monday night against the rival Regina Regals.

The Mid-Prairie girls come into tonight’s doubleheader with an overall record of 3-9, beating Cascade 9-5 on Thursday in Kalona. On the season the Golden Hawks are hitting .324 as a team, led by Rylee Vercande with a .485 average. In the circle the Hawks have a 4.60 ERA led by Cassidy Rourke with a 2-7 record and 3.83 ERA in 49 innings of work.

Iowa City Regina enters tonight’s softball doubleheader with an overall record of 7-7. The Regals are currently ranked No. 7 in the state in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Last time out Regina dropped a pair of games at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson tournament, falling to Southeast Polk 7-1 and Urbandale 6-0. On the year the Regals are hitting .285 as a team, led by Paisley Gardner with her .385 average. In the circle Regina has a team ERA of 4.11 led by Katie Bracken with a 4-6 record and 5.03 ERA in 55 innings of work. These two teams met twice a year ago with the Regals sweeping a doubleheader in Iowa City 4-3 and 15-8.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team enters their doubleheader with Regina tonight sporting a 5-6 overall record. Last time out the Hawks were beaten by top five ranked Cascade 12-3. Mid-Prairie enters tonight’s game hitting .222 this season, led by Cale Robertson with a .318 average. On the mound the Golden Hawks have a team ERA of 2.63, led by Brad Tornow with a 3-2 record and 0.67 ERA in 21 innings pitched.

Iowa City Regina is 10-2 on the year, scoring a pair of wins last weekend at the Grand View University Tournament over Algona Bishop Garrigan and Carroll Kuemper Catholic. The Regals are currently ranked No. 3 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. On the season Regina is hitting .366, led by Trent Hoogerwerf and his .467 average. On the mound Regina has a 2.67 team ERA led by Mitchell Gahan with a 3-0 record and 0.50 ERA in 14 innings. These two teams met three times a season ago with the Regals taking all three matchups.
