The Mid-Prairie baseball team hosted the Albia Blue Demons Friday night for Senior Night at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman.

Albia scored a 4-0 shut out victory in game one and Mid-Prairie responded with a mercy rule shortened 15-5 win in game two. In a doubleheader heard on AM and FM KCII, Albia scored single runs in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings of the first game, against Mid-Prairie starter Collin Gingerich and reliever Aidan Rath. Offensively the Hawks mustered four hits against Albia starter Trent Garver with Jacob Leonard leading the way with a two for three night at the plate.

In the night cap, Mid-Prairie had a rough top half of the first, giving up four runs to the Blue Demons while committing five errors. The Hawks rebounded in the bottom half, sending 10 hitters to the plate and scoring six times to take a lead they would not give up the rest of the night, at one point scoring 13 unanswered runs. All nine players in the Golden Hawk lineup scored a run in game two, Karson Gingerich, Keaton Duwa, Aidan Rath and Colton Hobbs each had two hits with Gingerich driving in three. Brad Tornow got the win for Mid-Prairie going four innings, giving up four unearned runs, walking one and striking out four. Seniors honored included Collin Gingerich, Eli Steckly, Karson Gingerich, Stephen Miller, Keaton Duwa, and Peyton Miller. With the split the Golden Hawks are 10-12 on the year.
