The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team got back on the winning track Thursday with a 9-5 victory over Cascade in Kalona.

In a game heard on KCII the Hawks started with two runs in the first, two more in the third and another in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. The Cougars scored twice in the fifth to get within 5-2 but Mid-Prairie pushed across four in the bottom half to take back control and the win. Eight Golden Hawks scored a run in the game, seven had at least one hit and six drove in at least one run, led by Anna Vilovchik with a pair of hits, two runs scored and three RBI. In the circle Cassidy Rourke went the distance to get the win, giving up five runs, just one earned, six hits and striking out four. Mid-Prairie is 3-9 on the season. The Golden Hawks will play in the Cedar Rapids Prairie tournament Saturday.
