After a 2-5 start to their season, the Highland Husky softball team has been on a tear of late, winning their last seven games.

This success is partially due to the overall pitching performance of Megan Hoening, a returning all-state honorable mention player from a season ago. In nine starts and three appearances in relief, Hoening sports a 7-3 record with a 2.75 ERA and 57 strikeouts through 68.2 innings pitched.

Their offense is led by another 2017 honorable mention all-stater, Abbie Miller. She’s hitting .354 on the year with 20 RBI; more than double the second-highest total on the team.  She’s also hit three of the team’s four homers on the year.

After a rain-out rescheduled last night’s game to tonight, the Huskies will have their recent dominance truly put to the test on the road against fifth-ranked Louisa-Muscatine. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
