The Iowa Mennonite School baseball and softball teams will host the Cardinal Comets Wednesday afternoon in a Superconference crossover.

The IMS baseball team comes into the matchup with an overall record of 6-4 after a 5-2 win over Burlington Notre Dame on the road Tuesday. IMS is hitting .278 as a team, led by Jacob Boller with his .417 average. IMS has a 2.82 team ERA led by Drew Blauvelt with a 2-0 record and 0.64 ERA in 11 innings pitched.

Cardinal comes into today’s contest with an overall record of 7-4. Last time out the Comets fell to New London 5-3. On the season the Comets are hitting .291, led by Wyatt Gatton and his .462 average. On the mound they have a 4.18 team ERA led by Gatton with a 3.16 ERA in 24 innings of work. These two teams met last year in Eldon with Cardinal scoring a 4-3 win.

In the softball matchup, IMS comes into the game with an overall record of 1-8. They were swept by Highland on Monday 12-4 and 7-5. On the season IMS is hitting .215, led by Rubye Ney and her .286 average. In the circle IMS has a collective ERA of 6.87, led by Hannah Harris with a 5.57 ERA in 49 innings of work and a 1-7 record.

Cardinal is 4-9 coming into today. They fell to New London on Tuesday 7-2. On the season the Comets are hitting .269, led by Caitlyn Reber with a .406 average. In the circle Cardinal has a collective ERA of 5.09, led by Kassidy Verrips with a 2-4 record and 5.09 ERA in 66 innings. These two teams met a year ago with IMS getting a 10-7 road win.
