Iowa’s primary elections are Tuesday and Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians will select which candidate will represent their parties in the November general election.

There are five races in the primary for Washington County positions and each one has only one candidate on the Republican ticket. The primary candidates are all seeking re-election and are Treasurer Jeff Garrett, Recorder Jo Greiner, County Attorney John Gish, and Board of Supervisors District 5 Richard Young and District 3 Abe Miller.

The State Representative District 78 race has one Republican incumbent Jarad Klein and one Democrat Kimberly Davis. The State Representative District 84 race has four Republicans vying for the nomination Martin Amos, Trevor Lynn, Sheila Matheney, and Joe Mitchell, and one Democrate Jason Moats. State Senator District 39 has Democrat Kevin Kinney seeking the nomination unopposed, and Heather Hora seeking the Republican nomination unopposed.
