The KCII Big Red Radio made its annual stop at the 108th Brighton Whoopee Days this past weekend.

This year’s theme was “Made in the USA,” as the Washington County Freedom Rock was unveiled Saturday at the corner of Highways 1 and 78. Armed forces veterans were honored throughout the weekend, including a presentation Saturday night by Army Chief Warrant Officer Joseph Mineart and author Cheyenne Miller. Attendees also had the chance to explore mobile education units from the University of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and check out the Spirit of Iowa Tribute Bell, which travels to communities across the state to tell the story of Iowa veterans. The Big Red Radio is heading north to Kalona Days this Saturday, on the next stop of the KCII Summer Town Tour.
